Anglers who apply extra effort to concealing their presence from the creatures they pursue will hook more fish.
This boils down to the ability to present a bait, lure or fly to a fish without that target becoming aware that a trap has been set. There’s an old saying that if you can see a fish, it can see you. In many instances, this is true. Over the past year or so, Starlo has been working with local clothing company, Mad Keen Australia to design and test his own signature range of purpose-made fishing apparel; balancing comfort, form and function with that over-riding desire not to be too obvious to those fickle fish.
The initial release of Starlo’s Finesse Fishing Wear (SFF clothing) consists of vented, long-sleeved, button-up fishing shirts and baseball-style caps in several unique camouflage colours, each featuring a distinctive water ripple pattern. The two colours currently available are Cobalt (blue) and Sweetwater (brown), with a third version called Greenfish not far away. Shorts, long pants, buffs and fleeces are also in the pipeline for next season, along with an exclusive range of accessories.
A great deal of thought has gone into limiting the opportunities for lines, lures or ropes to snag on the clothing, and the fabrics all carry high UPF ratings to protect anglers from the sun’s harmful rays. Best of all, this gear is extremely comfortable to wear and also looks great!
