In this world dominated by computers, Lowrance is offering free software enhancements. Lowrance, a world-leading brand in marine electronics, has announced innovative new software enhancements for its powerful HDS Gen2 Touch touchscreen, and HDS Gen2 multifunction displays. Available free as an online download, enhancements with the new 2.0 software for the Gen2 Touch and Gen2 series include GoFree™ Wireless compatibility, Chart Sharing, Depth Contour Shading, StructureMap™ HD, extensive mapping options, and a host of performance improvements. Moreover, the Gen2 Version 2.0 update brings existing advanced features of the newer Touch series to HDS Gen2 users. The HDS Gen2 Touch and Gen2 Version 2.0 updates provide support for cutting-edge Lowrance technology. Offering an exciting new level of navigational control, the Gen2 Touch and Gen2 update supports GoFree wireless integration that enables wireless connectivity between the displays and supported tablets, mobile phones and computers. While the HDS Gen2 Version 2.0 software allows viewing the display remotely on a supported device, users with an HDS Gen2 Touch, Version 2.0 software and compatible tablet can wirelessly view and control their displays, and fully interface with engine data, fuel information sensors and transducers. Offering both navigational and sonar enhancements, both updates include chart-sharing capability, which allows maps on memory cards to be shared across the Ethernet network for viewing on multiple HDS Gen2 or Gen2 Touch chart plotter displays. The new Version 2.0 software also features StructureMap HD capability, allowing users to convert recorded StructureScan® HD sonar longs into stunning high-definition underwater maps of lakes, rivers or the seafloor. A StructureMap can be viewed as a chart overlay, and toggled on and off to provide the ultimate in situation awareness in relation to both chart and bottom detail. Delivering a wealth of added navigational enhancements, Version 2.0 allows the HDS Gen2 and Gen2 Touch to display the most expansive selection of cartography on the market — including Jeppesen C-Map Max-N™ charts, and Navionics® charts. The update will provide depth contour shading and shallow-water highlight on Navionics charts to identify fishing areas of interest, as well as potential shallow boating hazards. Cartography enhancements feature the ability to view Navionics maps simultaneously with a wide selection of other HDScompatible charts. The software upgrade also enhances performance of the built-in HDS Gen2 5Hz GPS antenna providing more accurate trails, smoother chart performance and improved position accuracy. With this software upgrade, HDS Gen2 and Gen2 Touch now support the new Lowrance Point-1 10Hz external GPS antenna with built-in electronic compass, for maximum position accuracy and headingsensor indicator. Bringing all the most advanced Lowrance technology to HDS Gen2 models, the Version 2.0 software provides several features previously available only on Gen2 Touch. With the update installed, HDS Gen2 users can now enjoy revolutionary Insight Genesis™ capability for creating and viewing their own personal high-definition bathymetric contour maps from sonar log recordings. Additional HDS Gen2 Version 2.0 functionality includes StructureScan auto-contrast, new panel configurations on eight and 10-inch models, a new PDF reader, screencapture shortcut and more.
